I did that for years, too. I felt the same desperation for any sort of jolt to help move me through the day. 

Truth is, instead of helping you focus, be more productive, or have more energy - caffeine is really robbing you of those things outside of that 30-60 minute window they thrive in.

When you start your day with caffeine you’re hurtling yourself into motion and going against the natural pace to help you ease into the day. If the sun replicated caffeine it would go from dark to full mid-day light in a moment. Like turning the bathroom light on in the morning when you wake up - it’s jarring, excessive, and ______.

From there, after doing a cannonball into the day instead of easing in, you’ve ramped up and are already headed back down by 10 am. You’re crashing and it’s not even lunch. Then you crave lunch and the 30-minutes of freedom from your workday and eat in record time and down another energy drink with caffeine and pray shit doesn’t hit the fan this afternoon. You ride that wave until 2pm and watch the minutes slowly tick by until 5 when you physically clock out, but you’ve been mentally clocked out since 2:30.

Admit you Have a Problem

How did we get here?

Be honest with yourself in that your current habits in regards to caffeine are no longer serving you. You’re tired nearly all the time, are desperate for a temporary blip of energy, and are just getting by.

Drink Decaf and Water

We know you already love coffee but during this transition phase you’ll want to drink lots of water to flush out your system.

This will help avoid withdrawal symptoms like shakes, headaches, and cravings. This is damage control as you basically wean yourself off an addictive substance.

Be Patient With Yourself

Things won’t be easy right away. Some people have no symptoms while making the switch and others feel like they have the flu for a week.

Just know that change isn’t always easy but this will be worth it. You’ll STILL get to enjoy your favorite beverage but it won’t be causing you issues anymore. 

Love your coffee at your speed

You don't have to kick caffeine for good. No, even I have a regular coffee when I'm out and about during the day. 

The most important thing is to avoid dependance and falling into old habits. Embrace this slower, more intentional coffee habit that spills positive benefits all over the place.
